abstract:
The paper examine the intricate relationship between evangelization and enslavement in the early modern Mediterranean . Focusing on Jesuit efforts to convert Muslim slaves in Naples and Malta, the article illuminate how the Society of Jesus operated within a network of charitable and confessional institutions that sought to redeem captives both spiritually and socially.
