20世纪50年代三位意大利赴华留学生与当代意大利中国学研究格局

Chapter
Publication Date:
2025
abstract:
The article examines the formative experience of three Italian students who studied in China during the 1950s and assesses their lasting impact on contemporary Italian Sinology. It situates their trajectories within the broader historical framework of post–World War II cultural exchanges between Italy and China, tracing continuities from early pioneers such as Giuliano Bertuccioli to later key figures including Edoarda Masi, Filippo Coccia, and Renata Pisu. The article highlights their roles in institutional developments linked to IsMEO and IsIAO, as well as their contributions to Chinese language pedagogy, literary studies, and translation in Italy. By analysing publications, teaching reforms, and scholarly networks from the period 1957–1960 through subsequent decades, the study demonstrates how these early exchanges shaped enduring disciplinary paradigms. The article also considers contemporary legacies, including ongoing pedagogical tools and research developments—among them Varriano’s own work—underscoring a continuous line from the 1950s experience in China to present-day approaches, including digital humanities, within Italian Sinology.
