abstract:
The author in the occasion of the exhibition held at the National Museum of Oriental Art in Rome entitled Antica Persia. I Tesori del Museo Nazionale di Teheran e la ricerca archeologica Italiana, deals in this article with the important archaeological discovery of Dahan-e Ghulaman in the Iranian Sistan. The site uncovered in the 60s of the last century still keeps intact its knowledge potential for at least three order of grounds: the urban character of the remains, unknown for the Achaemenid age in the plateau; the particular climatic and geo-morphological condition of the area of the Hilmand delta; the presence of a religious building which seems to go back to an ancient Iranian religion connected with the fire, not yet institutionalized with the Zoroastrianism.
