"The End of the World Is at the Door. Isn't This a Critical Moment? Nine Songs by Yan Xiaoping" explores the question of theatre and climate crisis by focusing on a specific text written in contemporay China. Yan Xiaoping wrote her work "Nine Songs" during the COVID-19 pandemic. In contrast to the ancient Nine Songs, which clearly inspired her work, the communication between humans and gods no longer functions. Their meeting is not a moment of celebration, but of disaster and death. Similarly, the many beautiful images of nature in the old Nine Songs have been replaced by numerous scenes of destruction.
