The article is divided into two parts: the first reconstructs the episode of Antonio Criminali’s martyrdom by analyzing contemporary sources and the issues related to the recognition of the martyrdom; the second examines the documents concerning the beatification process, which began in the early twentieth century but has not yet been successfully concluded, through the procedural sources.
