The essay reconstructs, after a general introduction on the origins, diffusion and cultural value of military songs and popular songs on war topics, how some Italian toponyms, related to the fight-zones of the First World War where the Hungarian troops of the Austro-Hungarian army was engaged on the Italian front, were received by the tradition of Hungarian popular songs, testifying to the strong meaning of representation of the events described, for the following generations.
