abstract:
Archival description has undergone a significant process of development and standardization over the years. While the outcomes
are still under evaluation, the work being conducted by the Expert Group on Archival Description (EGAD) on the Records
in Contexts model has sparked a revitalization of scientific discourse. This discussion extends beyond standards alone,
encompassing the dynamics surrounding the integration of archival description within broader information retrieval systems.
This contribution begins with reflections on the potential and possible challenges of a data modeling approach based on the logic
proposed by EGAD. It examines how new descriptive approaches might impact future research tools, including in the context
of integrated retrieval.
