L’Area Grecanica e la Città Metropolitana di Reggio Calabria: Aspetti dell'Accordo di Programma Quadro, interazioni, prospettive

The Grecanica area and the metropolitan city of Reggio Calabria: aspects of the framework program agreement, interactions, perspectives. Te Grecanic Area in Calabria is characterized by social, economic, and infrastructural issues that have led to a lack of development, the depopulation and abandonment of the internal villages, but also the downsizing of the coastal centres which, in previous decades, experienced a hypertrophic dimension. In October 2021, as part of the National Strategy for Inner Areas, a Framework Agreement was defned, highlighting the importance gradually assumed by the administrative context that contains it: the Reggio Calabria Metropolitan City. In this paper, in addition to a description of the current demographic situation, an analysis of the Framework Agreement is provided, as well as of the interventions planned to combat the depletion of human capital and of the role envisaged for the CMRC.
