abstract:
The thesis analyses the coinage issued in the areas on the south-eastern border of the Islamic world, currently Afghanistan and Iran, between the 2nd/8th and the 4th/11th centuries. The complex historical-political framework and the bureaucratic organisation reflect on the coins; the latter shed light on the administrative systems, the hierarchy of powers and their nature, and the continuous and abrupt changes in managing these unstable borders.
