Napoli e la società napoletana negli scritti di Giacomo Leopardi

Chapter
Publication Date:
2006
abstract:
The essay starts from young Leopardi’s knowledge, before his Neapolitan stay, about Naples’ natural and artistic attractions, about its metropolitan’s lifestyle and society, knowledge useful to study Leopardi’s mail written in Naples, his satirical composition “to New Believers” and his last poems “La Ginestra” and “Moon’s sunset” (il tramonto della luna), where Vesuvius’ night landscape and its surroundings is filled by deep symbolical and metaphysical meanings.
