abstract:
This article deals with the origin of Christianity in Korea in a kind of "parallel analysis" with Christianity during the Roman Empire. In this regard, the author shows how the delicate historical moment of Korea (which was practising a strictly policy of isolationism), in early 19th century, was at the basis of several persecutions against Christians, who were seeking for aid from foreign powers in order to make easier the evangelization of the country.
