Das Kapital für Dortmund übersetzen: Anna Stecher im Gespräch mit dem chinesischen Dramatiker Nick Yu, 23. Februar 2023

On September 8, 2023, the Theatre Dortmund presented Das Kapital: Das Musical as a new production for the season 2023/24. Das Kapital: Das Musical is a translation of the Chinese play Ziben lun written by Nick Yu for the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre in 2010. As the translator of the play, I had a long conversation with Nick Yu during the translation process. We talked about background information, difficulties in translation, possible translation strategies. The conversation can be useful for better understanding the production at the Theatre Dortmund, and also in order to discuss transcultural theatre translation more broadly.
