Course Objectives

The course aims to provide knowledge and methodological tools to contextualize the literary relevance and social impact of colonial and postcolonial literature in the Dutch language from 1900 to the present day.

Course Prerequisites

Prerequisites.

No specific language knowledge is required as the course is held in Italian and is also aimed at first-year students. Obviously it is important that students have an aptitude for the study of foreign cultures and literature and show an interest and willingness to deepen their knowledge of different literary and artistic expressions.

It is not possible to take the Literature II and III exams of the current year if you have not passed the Literature I exams of the previous year.

Teaching Methods

Teaching is mainly in face-to-face lectures in Italian with reading of texts in the original language.

Assessment Methods

The examination consists of an oral test, which covers the topics of the lectures and the oral and written presentation of a short paper on a number of texts chosen by the students from those covered during the course. More detailed information on the paper will be provided at the beginning of the course. The language of the examination is Italian. The assessment, expressed in 30ths, is based on knowledge of the main themes dealt with in the course, the ability to contextualise an author or a movement and the elaboration of a personal critical thought.
