CICLO ANNUALE UNICO (29/09/2025 - 29/05/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES

During the training course, the student must demonstrate that he/she can read and interpret simplified and adapted texts at an A1 level; that he/she knows and remembers the words and forms useful for communication based on everyday topics; that he/she can apply and analyze the grammatical rules of the Russian language in written and oral communication.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

1. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired a greater ability to use linguistic skills in oral and written forms and in interaction and will have learned to reflect on the morphosyntactic structures of the Russian language in the different textual units.

2. At the end of the training course, students will have developed the linguistic skills of oral and written reception and production, corresponding to the basic level, producing elementary texts on everyday life topics. They will also apply the structures learned in translation from Italian into Russian and vice versa.

To produce written texts, they will be able to use the bilingual dictionary and other multimedia tools to recognize the meanings of words.

AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT:

Students will be able to correct themselves and reflect on the correct use of the linguistic norm. They will also carry out the first autonomous reflections on the difference between the source language and the target language and will be able to ask questions to give the right specific weight to the two linguistic structures.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

At the end of the first year of study, students will be able to interact by producing simple monologues and dialogues: introducing themselves, explaining what they do and where they live, listing interests and favorite and habitual activities; talking about their family, specifying the name and age of parents and closest relatives; indicating their profession and providing information on interests and passions. For written production, students know and freely use the Cyrillic alphabet in handwriting (block letters and cursive) and on the keyboard. They can compose short, minimally cohesive descriptions, on a guide or guided, on everyday topics using vocabulary corresponding to level A1.

LEARNING ABILITY:

At the end of the course, students will be able to update the skills acquired and independently find materials related to the course (find and read simple stories, make transactions on the Internet, search for objects, learn songs, translate short audiovisual texts, etc.).

Course Prerequisites

The 1st year Russian language course is for zero-level learners, therefore no prerequisites regarding the Russian language are necessary. However, it is recommended to have a solid basic knowledge of the Italian language, for explanations based on contrastive morphology; its grammar; phonetics; derivation mechanisms; syntax and their related terminology (especially for non-native Italian speakers and Slavic-speaking students). Knowledge of the different types of texts (manualistic, audiovisual, literary) and basic digital tools is also necessary.

PREREQUISITES

The written test precedes the oral test. Failure to pass the written test will result in the oral test not being accepted.

Teaching Methods

The course is divided into theoretical module - delivered through frontal lectures - and practical exercises.

The theoretical-descriptive part on morphology, basic phonetics, spelling, lexical derivation of Russian, and culture is taught by the course teacher. There are 27 lectures, each lasting two academic hours, and they will take place throughout the academic year in the two semesters (from the end of September to December and from the end of February to May).

The practical-communicative part is taught by native speaker collaborators through interactive exercises with students. Students are required to do some independent work through homework and to check their work in class. Attendance is HIGHLY recommended.

The teacher's lessons are held in Italian. The exercises of collaborators and linguistic experts - in Russian.

Assessment Methods

The exam is divided into two types of tests: written and oral

The written test is divided into 4 parts: 1. multiple choice test and listening comprehension test on the Moodle platform; 2. dictation, 3. short translation from Italian to Russian, 4. short composition on topics covered during the course. The oral test consists of reading, translation and linguistic analysis of a text adapted into Russian, and a comprehension and conversation test in Russian.

Evaluation criteria:

Written test: writing (ability to write in cursive and orthography), knowledge of grammar and simple syntax will be assessed.

Oral test: reading with correct pronunciation and intonation, comprehension of written and oral text, oral production, lexical competence, grammatical competence, interaction ability will be assessed.

Language in which the exam is held: Italian and Russian.

Contents

The course is dedicated to Italian and non-Italian mother-tongue students, who begin the study of written and oral Russian, starting from level 0. In line with the CEFR, the five communicative skills (being able to understand, speak, read, write and interact) are developed through the systematic in-depth study of fundamental linguistic structures (grammar, phonetics, rudiments of syntax and lexical derivation). The study of language develops on the dual track of:

1.Linguistic-communicative competence. Students understand short oral and written texts on known topics related to the personal and social sphere in an elementary way. They produce short oral and written texts on a trace or autonomously to describe people and situations in an elementary way. They reproduce written texts on dictation or supplement them at the teacher's request with the correct linguistic structures. Interact with dialogues and monologues in simple exchanges on known topics of personal interest. They produce simple translations from and into the source language. They reflect on the system (phonology, morphology, syntax, vocabulary, etc.) and related language functions.

2. Cultural competence. Students understand and analyse basic elements relating to the culture of Russia, with particular reference to the social and cultural sphere.

In this way, language learning is based on the initial development of the five skills (understanding, speaking, reading, writing and interacting) through the acquisition of linguistic and cultural content.
