La gestación subrogada en la prensa española

This paper investigates the discursive construction of surrogacy. The headlines of online news reports have been selected from major Spanish newspapers (El País, El Mundo and ABC) in the period between Jun 1st, 2015 and May 31st, 2016. The theoretical and methodological framework is based on critical discourse analysis and appraisal theory. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of linguistic resources and discursive strategies was brought about to reveal relationships between discursive options and ideological positions. The objective is to describe, interpret and explain grammatical, discursive and social aspects as an evidence of the power that the media exercise in discourses.
