Abstract:
This study aims to comprehend some dynamics of the setting process of
the Ayt ‘Atta in the South-East Morocco. These dynamics and their sociocultural
implications are interesting because this pastoral group has such a
flexibility that it adapts to the most difficult circumstances, both political and
environmental.
We present some sections of the document concerning the customary law
of the Izulayn of Zouala in the territory of Rteb. Our hypothesis is that the
peculiarities of the customary law of the Ayt ‘Atta have contributed to the
maintenance of tribal structures and traditions, at the same time they would
have favored the evolution of the group’s settlement process.
