Abstract:
The purpose of this article is to identify the analogies between
the most recent Translation Studies and Caribbean Studies. It focuses
mainly on translation as an interpretation tool to understand Caribbean
culture and identity. In a different and fragmented context
such as the Caribbean, translation takes on a crucial role by actively
contributing to the identity development process and to the enhancement
of a sometimes underestimated culture. Translation then becomes
a Caribbean peculiarity, ensuring its culture the right to differ
and also acting as the main culture and language communication tool.
