Overview of the field seasons 2010 and 2011 of the Italian Archaeological Expediton to Eastern Sudan of the University of Naples "L'Orientale". In particular the fresh data collected on the ancient history of the region are discussed emphasizing the new questions and problems posed to future investigations by some of the finds.
