Remarks on the names of viburnum in Altai Turkic varieties

Abstract:
The paper presents some etymological remarks on the names of viburnum in Altai Turkic varieties – one of the branches of the South Siberian Turkic languages. There are two different designations: one of them, *balan, may be connected to Yeniseian, while another name, *čaŋïs, is of Mongolic origin.
