Il Cile come ‘simbolo’ e come ‘esempio’ nel lungo ’68 italiano

Articolo
Data di Pubblicazione:
2023
Abstract:
The article investigates the role of the Italian New Left in the solidarity mobilisations for Chile and in the debates on the Chilean experience that took place in the peninsula before and after the coup d'état of 11 September 1973. More generally, it raises some questions that historiography has only just begun to address: How did the Chilean experience become a factor of radical mobilisation? What was its impact on the strategic choices of left-wing groups? What was the role of these groups in the construction of a political imaginary about Chile? In this sense, the article is part of the recent tendency in studies to value the international dimension of the European New Left and, at the same time, contributes to the research in transnational history that has made it possible in recent years to make known the significance of the Chilean Revolution beyond national borders and the way in which it contributed to shaping the choices, strategies and imaginaries of the Left around the world.
