The literature of Harar until the end of the 19th century

After an introduction on the histiry of Ajami writing in Harar, the author of the article discusses some examples of the main genres of its literature: the so-called Song of the 4 Caliphs, the Masnoy, the Kitab al-Faqar, the Kitab al-Farayid, and the Mustafa. Excerpts from their manuscripts, with their transcription, traslation and comments are reproduced for each of them.
