Abstract:
This third issue of Nova Collectanea Africana is a brief collection of articles on the economic conditions under which some minority groups live today in Tanzania, Kenya and Madagascar. This new volume focuses on economic factors which have changed or given rise to some “minorities”, taking into account how the groups involved navigate the economic structures of their countries and regions and how they are affected by the post-colonial legacy. Contributions are focused on how and if the economic status of these groups transform over the years, if they participate in the economic processes in their countries. The term ‘minorities’ is here interpreted widely in order to include also sexual, social, and even disabled groups, such as the genetic minority of albinos People With Albinism (PWA); not only ethnic, religious, linguistic, cultural, and political minority groups. It is well known that on an economic ground, minority can be both disadvantaged or advantaged.
