Custodire e condividere memorie collettive: le sfide del Museo Nazionale Etrusco di Villa Giulia

Articolo
Data di Pubblicazione:
2023
Abstract:
This essay aims to offer a summary of the most relevant initiatives carried out by the National
Etruscan Museum of Villa Giulia since 2017, when, under my direction, it achieved administrative
and scientific autonomy. After a quick historical synthesis of its first 130 years of life, the article
presents the strategies adopted by the Museum to achieve its mission and promote the principles of the
«Framework Convention of the Council of Europe on the value of cultural heritage for society» – Faro
2005. The introduction of an innovative subscription and initiatives such as «Stories of People and
Museums» and the open agreement «Tular Rasnal – Etruscans without borders» have constituted
a fundamental tool for strengthening ties with the territory and building a community of heritage
around the Institute. Finally, the article discusses the main activities aimed at promoting inclusion,
accessibility, and well-being carried out through new methods of communication. In particular, it
focuses on the time during the Covid-19 pandemic and its immediate aftermath, during which Villa
Giulia became a model for many other institutions.
